Why we build every Wexofy plugin in a real store first

Most WooCommerce plugins are written against a demo store, a handful of test products and an idea of what a merchant probably needs. Ours are not. Every plugin sold on wexofy.com started as a fix for something that was actually going wrong in a real store: our own.

The store came first

Before there was a Wexofy catalogue, there was a WooCommerce store in Lithuania shipping physical orders every day. When the built-in shipment status was not enough, we wrote a shipment tracker. When an off-the-shelf checkout plugin was too heavy for what we needed, we wrote a lighter one. When we needed to know, at a glance, how many units of each product were sitting in unshipped orders, we wrote that too.

None of these started as products. They started as internal tools that had to work correctly on the first day, because real customers and real parcels depended on them.

Productising is the easy part

Once a tool has run for months without surprising us, turning it into something we can sell is mostly translation and polish: English strings, a settings screen that makes sense to someone who has never seen the code, a licence system, documentation. The hard part (does the logic actually hold up against real orders, real couriers, real edge cases like a partially refunded order or a customer who changes their shipping address after checkout) is already settled before that work starts.

What this means for you

• Nothing in the catalogue is a proof of concept. It has run against live orders before you ever saw it.
• The catalogue is short on purpose. A plugin gets added when it has earned it, not on a schedule.
• Support comes from the person who wrote the code and still runs it, not a ticket queue.
